THE HISTORY OF VENDING IN ITALY
In the early 50s arrived from USA the first Coca-Cola vending machines and from Canada the first chewing gum mechanical distributors.
After these early experiences, in the 60s, Mr. Guaiti of Milan became deeply involved in this area and built the first completely Italian vending machine which was placed on the market with some success.
In a few years, the sector was populated by more and more specialized companies which introduced automatic distributors of various products as: coffee, snacks, drinks, etc … and it is in this context that the Serafin family approaches this world beginning to install these machines in Northern Italy.
Despite the continuous development and expansion of the “wending world” in the 70s the industry suffered a downturn in contrast with the strong market demand due to the poor circulation of coins.
A few years later, a company of Turin entered on the market the first mechanical distributors which provided balls where you could find inside the most varied gadgets, mostly toys for children.
The first mechanical distributor produced by the Serafin family was build in the 80s. It immediately distinguished on the market thanks to its innovative design and manufacture, meeting in this way the immediate customer approval.
With the advent on the market, in the 90s, of Chinese products the “vending world” found new opportunities and the marketing of these machines expanded offering products, not only for children, but also for adults.
The arrival of the euro coin at the beginning of the new millennium, gave an important boost to this sector and right in the early 2000s Luca S.r.l. company was founded in order to capture all the opportunities offering new mechanical distributors and higher quality products.
THE CURRENT DEVELOPMENT OF “VENDING MACHINE” IN ITALY AND EUROPE
This distribution channel is going through a positive period of contingency and is booming thanks to particular reasons:

2. The opportunity to distribute licensed products of important and very popular “brands”.
3. More modern and innovative equipments have been build.
4. There is the chance to get higher profit margins than in the past.
5. Thanks to the evolution of labor market, who works in this area has assumed a much more professional attitude managing customers more carefully and with more specific preparation.
With the observations above mentioned the automatic and mechanical distribution sector appears to be a modern form of servicing customers providing high quality goods and services.
In fact automatic distribution allows to reach consumers at any place: where they stay or go normally, on home-school route, on home-work route, on leisure places and on every other place, even the most unusual ones; an example would be the cemetery where you could distribute candles to be placed on graves.
Future perspectives in this area are countless!!! Consider that now it’s already possible to connect and then check a distribution equipment via the latest communication technologies such as “GPRS” or “UMTS”, so it becomes possible to monitor the operation of the mechanical distributors being able to know in this way the sales trends and consumption flows minimizing human intervention.
